AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Disclosed
According to the official release, "A strange confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine cult.
The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Content
Players who finish the adventure will receive an special katana alongside several artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
