It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was out her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
