Both Deceased Students Named in Brown University Attack as Law Enforcement Press On With Search for Killer.

Two students who lost their lives in the recent tragic incident at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their assailant continued following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences online, stating: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a police operation at a lodging about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Ongoing Concerns
