Nearly 25,000 households in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the region, generating strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage

Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that different parts across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Response teams were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the extensive power failures.

Victorian Weather Woes

Meanwhile, approximately one thousand households in the southern state also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

Emergency response teams responded to 598 calls for help across the state, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both areas.

Health Warning

Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
