Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
