New information has come to light concerning the untimely demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account referencing a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Following this, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.

The source also pushed back against published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation includes accounts of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.

Investigation Details

According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
