Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn approaching the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car P3, over half a second off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
