Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Problems.

'Major setback' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad upon exiting the playing area early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell during the morning session.

The England team reported Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time away from the action to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".

The final Test of the series in Sydney begins at the end of the week.

England have already lost fast bowlers one seamer due to knee trouble and another paceman because of a side injury during this series.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

The seamer had a tough time early in the series, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was omitted for the Adelaide match, then recalled for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps with the ball, before adding 28 while batting being one of only three English batsmen who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he resumed the next day and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of that over, he bowled a variation to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

Atkinson returned to the side for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
