Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with performances this poor.”

He stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
