Space-Based Pictures Show Iran's Naval Forces and Atomic Sites Struck by Joint US and Israeli Attacks.

Multiple US and Israeli attacks has reportedly destroyed or damaged a minimum of 11 Iranian naval vessels starting the weekend, freshly analyzed orbital imagery reveal, with launch facilities and nuclear sites also sustaining hits.

Photographs of the southerly Konarak naval military port and the Bandar Abbas port facility, which is located on the strategic Hormuz Strait and contains the headquarters of the Iran's naval force, show plumes of smoke rising from multiple vessels on Monday and Tuesday.

Naval Assets Incurred Major Damage

Among the vessels destroyed was the Makran, Iran's most sizable ship which had served as a drone carrier. Orbital photos displayed dark plumes emanating from the ship which had been docked at the Bandar Abbas base.

Intelligence assessments state that at least five ships at the port were "struck or destroyed". Imagery of the southern end of the port depict smoke rising from the Makran, while another pair of vessels appear to be harmed, with one of them seen burning.

At Konarak, photos display numerous harmed vessels, with intelligence reports pointing to impacts on a half-dozen warships. Images taken on Monday also demonstrate that a number of facilities at the base have been demolished.

"For decades the Iranian regime has disrupted international shipping," a senior US military official said. "At present, there is no vessel from Iran underway in the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Sea of Oman, and we will persist."

A number of vessels reportedly sunk may have been hidden in satellite images by weather conditions or battle damage, or struck at sea, and have yet to be fully confirmed. Separate reports stated that an Iranian vessel was foundering off the coast of Sri Lanka's waters, resulting in a search and rescue mission.

Rocket Installations and Nuclear Facilities Hit

Eliminating Iranian missile bases and the stopping atomic bomb programs were declared as other objectives of the military strikes. Satellite images also depicted strikes on the southerly Khorgu base and north-western Tabriz missile bases, and at the Konarak air base, where missile storage facilities and fortifications were struck.

At the Choqa Balk-e UAV facility west of the city of Kermanshah, extensive destruction was identified to warehouses, underground facilities and UAV launching apparatus.

Impact was also observed at a radar installation at the Zahedan airbase in eastern Iran, close to the border with neighboring nations.

Significantly, the latest wave of attacks have reportedly targeted installations at the Natanz complex – considered at the heart of Iran's nuclear programme. An international watchdog said that the affected structures were used for entry to the facility's underground enrichment facility and that "no release of radioactive material" was expected.

Wider Impact and Analysis

Defense experts stated that the offensive appeared to have "largely neutralized" the Iran's naval ability to conduct traditional warfare using its most significant vessels. But, it was stressed that Iran retains the ability to launch asymmetric warfare at sea through the use of drones, mini-submarines and its so-called "shadow fleet" of oil ships.

The total extent of the destruction caused to Iran's defense infrastructure is still uncertain, with hostilities reportedly persisting. Photos also reveals widespread damage to the headquarters of the Iran's Revolutionary Guards in the city of Tehran.

A large number of non-military structures also seem to have been struck in the capital city and across the country since the hostilities escalated. Casualty figures from inside Iran indicate that hundreds of non-combatants may have been lost their lives in the bombardment.

With the conflict ongoing, monitoring of aerial photographs will continue to track the changing battlefield picture.
