The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Earns a Significant Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a serene talk show. In an era often marked by bleakness, this show's sincerity found an audience and propelled it a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

In mid-December, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its peculiarly charming appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something deeply soothing about following this lovable family go about their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to help comedy break out of its long-running cynical streak. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially catalyze that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences a little more time to bask in the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is available for streaming on HBO Max.
