Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told the press. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”

Community Response

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Policy Revisions

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the administration to pause asylum processing and cease issuing visas to holders of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Morrisey said on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told the program that she aimed to meet with the family.

Impact of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the gathering at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
